Scaling Europe’s AI capabilities from Krakow: Gaia AI Factory
On Monday, in the historic Sukiennice in Kraków, the official inauguration of the Gaia AI Factory marked a major milestone for Central and Eastern Europe and a significant step forward for Europe’s technological sovereignty. 🇪🇺🚀
With an investment of nearly €70 million, more than 1,000 GPU, and a next-generation supercomputing infrastructure led by Academic Computer Centre CYFRONET AGH, Gaia AI Factory will empower innovation across science, startups, industry, healthcare, education, climate, public administration, and space technologies.
What makes this project truly exceptional is the scale of collaboration behind it: universities, research institutions, public administration, and technology leaders joining forces to shape the future of European AI together.
The inauguration brought together distinguished leaders and decision-makers, including:
🔹 prof. Jerzy Lis, Rector of AGH University of Krakow
🔹 Aleksander Miszalski, Mayor of @Miasto Kraków
🔹 Maria Mrówczyńska, Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education
🔹 Dariusz Standerski, PhD, Secretary of State at the Ministerstwo Cyfryzacji
🔹 Witold Kozłowski, Vice Marshal of the @Małopolska Region
🔹 Rafał Duczmal, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of @EuropHPC JU
🔹 Marek Magryś, Director of Academic Computer Centre CYFRONET AGH
We would also like to thank ACC CYFRONET AGH (Marta Maj, Patrycja Dąbrowska – Wierzbicka, Patryk Lasoń, Marek Magryś), for the invitation and for including us in this important moment. 🇫🇷🇵🇱 Congrats dear friends !
ACC CYFRONET AGH has been a historic partner of La French Tech Krakow ecosystem for many years, regularly hosting French delegations of institutions and technology actors in Kraków. These long-standing exchanges have helped build trust, ambition, and a shared vision for Europe’s digital future.
Today, Gaia AI Factory opens a new chapter. Beyond infrastructure, Gaia represents a concrete opportunity to initiate real collaborative projects between Poland and French actors — from startups and research labs to industrial leaders and public institutions.
As Europe accelerates its AI ambitions, Krakow and Małopolska region are positioning themselves not only as adopters of technology, but as active builders of the future.
